JACKSON COUNTY 9-1-1 Public Safety Agency

Jackson County 9-1-1

Jackson County 9-1-1 began serving the citizens of Jackson County in  1994. Jackson County 9-1-1 dispatches 25 fire stations and 5 ambulance  stations, as well as the Scottsboro Police Department.

With modern equipment upgraded frequently, Jackson County 9-1-1 has  the capability to locate a caller's location on a map to assist  responding emergency service providers. Surrounded by 3 counties in Alabama, 2 counties in Tennessee and 1 in  Georgia, we also have the capability to contact surrounding agencies  ether by phone or radio.

Dispatchers are trained and certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers  (EMD), able to offer assistance immediately to callers with a medical  emergency.

They can instruct the caller in a variety of first aid measures  ranging from blood loss control, to CPR, to childbirth. Dispatchers are  required to receive at least 12 hours of continuing education each year  to maintain their certification.

An emergency is when immediate Police, Fire, or Medical is necessary  to protect life or property. If an emergency situation arises - a crime,  a fire, a serious injury or illness - ask yourself whether police,  fire, or medical is needed right now to protect life or property. If  YES, then immediately dial 9-1-1 and advise the 9-1-1 operator of what  has happened or is happening.

Call 9-1-1 whenever you believe there is an emergency. If you are not  sure it's a real emergency, dial 9-1-1 and the 9-1-1 operator will make  the final determination.

If the 9-1-1 system receives several calls at the same time,  emergency services handle these multiple calls on a priority basis. The  most serious emergency will be handled first.

No money is needed for calling 9-1-1 from a pay phone. Cell phones can dial 9-1-1 even if deactivated. Our mission is to provide efficient and effective public safety services to our community with a commitment to excellence, professionalism, and integrity.
